Dr. Mike Flynn was born in Davenport Iowa while his father, Jack Flynn was a student at Palmer College of Chiropractic. His mother Pat was fond of reminding him that his first "adjustment" as an infant, was by Dr. B.J. Palmer credited as being the developer of the chiropractic profession that began in 1895. The Flynn family moved to Houma in 1954.

Dr. Mike attended St. Francis de Sales and later Vanderbilt Catholic High School graduating in 1968. He went on to the University of Southwestern Louisiana for three years before being accepted to Palmer College and later transferred to Texas Chiropractic College in Houston, Texas where he graduated in 1975. At his graduation he as recognized with the Faculty Award as the outstanding student and Clinical Excellence Award.

He joined his father in practice in June of 1975 and followed his foot-steps as president of the Chiropractic Association of Louisiana in 1985. Dr. Jack was the president of the state association in 1974, the year that Louisiana became the final state to license the profession. Dr. Mike was the recipient of the Young Chiropractor of the Year and Chiropractor of the Year by the state association.

Dr. Mike also followed his father as state delegate to the American Chiropractic Association (ACA) whose corporate headquarters is in Washington DC. After six years in this position he was elected by 12 southern states as their representative to the ACA Board of Governors. He was later elected and served two years as Chairman of the Board. Dr. Mike is a past recipient of the ACA Chiropractor of the Year.

For eight years Dr. Mike served on the Louisiana Board of Chiropractic Examiners appointed by two different Governors. He was elected president of this board twice.

In 2001 at a meeting in Paris, France he was appointed as the ACA representative to the World Federation of Chiropractic (www.wfc.org) governing body. This international organization represents over 85 countries where chiropractic is practiced. In subsequent meetings in Singapore, Johannesburg, South Africa and Seoul South Korea he was elected to leadership positions. In June of 2010 he was elected as president of this organization for a term of two years at a meeting in Budapest Hungary.

Dr. Mike also finds time to serve on the board of directors of the non profit Foundation for Chiropractic Progress and Association for the History of Chiropractic. He is also a member of the Board of Trustees for Parker College of Chiropractic in Dallas, Texas.


In his community Dr. Mike is a long time member of the Houma Terrebonne Chamber of Commerce. He was the committee chair of the successful chamber initiative to place on the ballot the reduction ( from 15 to 9 ) of the parish council and school board. Dr. Mike is a past recipient of a community Activist Award.

For many years Dr. Mike as served as an appointed member by the Parish Council to the Library Board of Control. This board was responsible for the construction of the new Main Library that was selected as Library of the Year in Louisiana and the renovations ongoing at several library branches. He currently serves as vice-president.

Dr. Mike was also chosen as the first life-time member by the local Vietnam Veteran's chapter that developed Veteran's Park.

Since the first issue of Point of Vue magazine in April 2007 Dr. Mike has been a contributing writer each month on the topic of Positive Thinking. He has been an invited speaker for many years in the school system on the consequences of alcohol and other drug use and also to many civic and community organizations on health related topics to include moving right, eating right and thinking right. Dr. Mike is a speaker for the Statue of Responsibility Foundation (www.sorfoundation.org).

Dr. Mike has been married to the former Darlene Prosperie for over 15 years. He is the proud father of three daughters and five grandchildren.
